STREAM Activity: Bubble Wrap Print

Celebrate Culture Through Art!

Activity best for children ages three and up

Pakistan is a country bursting with culture whether in its breathtaking landscapes like the K2, the 2nd tallest mountain in the world or its vibrant festivals. But one of the most colorful parts of Pakistan? Its delicious food! From the deep reds of paprika to the golden hues of saffron, spices play a big role in giving Pakistani dishes like Biryani their signature look and flavor.

This May, in celebration of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month, the Museum is highlighting stories and characters from AAPI communities through books like Leila in Saffron by Rukhsanna Guidroz who discovers the powers of her culture in Pakistan through food! For our activity, we’ll be using that same colorful inspiration to create an abstract canvas with recycled bubble wrap to mimic the beautiful patterns and colors of Pakistani dishes.
