A Heart for Every Day!

Activity best for children ages four and up

February is a great time to think about kindness, gratitude, and the people who make our lives special. This heart-shaped chart gives kiddos a way to reflect on those feelings every day. Each small paper flap represents a reason they appreciate or care for someone. By the time Valentine’s Day arrives, their heart is full of special messages that celebrate connection and gratitude.

VOCABULARY

  • Gratitude: The feeling of being thankful for someone or something.

GUIDING QUESTIONS

  • What is one thing you feel thankful for today?

MATERIALS

  • Construction paper (pink, red, white)

  • Scrapbook paper

  • Scissors

  • Glue

  • Pen

  • Markers

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Fold red paper in half and draw the outline of the heart on the folded side.

STEP 2

Cut with scissors and you have your heart shape!

Glue your heart on top of white construction paper.

STEP 4

Cut 14 foldable squares from scrapbook paper and left over construction paper.

Glue the 14 cut out pieces on the heart.

Write “I love you because…” at the top of you paper and fill in the squares with reasons why you love or care for someone!
