STREAM Activity: Water & Buoyancy

Let’s experiment with water and buoyancy! This can be done anywhere using household materials and water.
Activity best for all ages

MATERIALS

  • Large container of water

  • Household materials to test (cotton balls, cans, cardboard, leaves, etc.)

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Gather objects you think might be buoyant.

STEP 2

Test them in a container full of water.

STEP 3

Use tape or glue to combine objects that are buoyant and build a boat.

STEP 4

Test your boat by stacking coins or other objects on it to see how strong it is.
