Let It Snow…Slime!

Activity best for children ages four and up

Winter is here, and it’s the perfect season to explore some cool, hands-on science! Snow slime is a fun way for early learners to discover how different ingredients mix together to create something new. As kids stretch and play with the slime, they get to feel its unique texture and see how a simple mixture can change right before your eyes. Add sparkly glitter, and you’ll see the magic of the season come to life!

  • Mixture: When two or more things are combined but can still be separated.

GUIDING QUESTIONS

  • What do you notice happening when we mix the ingredients together?

  • What does the texture of the slime remind you of?

MATERIALS

  • Borax

  • White glue

  • Warm and room-temperature water

  • Glitter

  • 2 Bowls

  • Plastic spoon

DIRECTIONS

STEP 1

Combine equal parts of white glue and room-temperature water into a bowl and mix with a spoon.

Mix glue and warm water

STEP 2

In another bowl, combine 1 tsp of borax powder with warm water and mix. Once combined, add your borax mixture to your glue and water.

Add glitter to make your snow slime sparkle!
